The Huran Global Rich List was released today, featuring six bitcoin billionaires that made their money from Cryptocurrency. But who tops the list and who’s the wealthiest?
The Hurun Global Rich List released today includes six cryptocurrency billionaires predominantly generated by crypto exchanges and a bitcoin miner. The Hurun Global Rich List, known as China’s version of the Forbes rich list, ranked 2,816 billionaires from 71 countries this year.
The rapid rise of the cryptocurrency sector along with the skyrocketing prices of cryptocurrencies in the past few years has seen entrepreneurs from the industry make billions out of the booming financial industry.
According to the list, four people out of the six executives who made it onto the list are from major cryptocurrency exchanges, holding a net worth of more than $1 billion each.
Meet the 6 world’s Richest Bitcoin Billionaires
1. Changpeng Zhao
Changpeng Zhao, the 42-year-old founder of the three-year-old crypto exchange Binance, has continued to grow his personal wealth as the company expands. Zhao has doubled his wealth to a reported $2.6 billion, up from last year’s $1.3 billion. He now tops global bitcoin billionaires.
2. Zhan Ketuan
According to the list, the second wealthiest cryptocurrency individual is Bitmain co-founder Zhan Ketuan. The 41-year-old mastermind behind the world’s largest cryptocurrency mining hardware manufacturer holds a net worth of $1.6 billion as of January 31, 2020, which in fact has decreased by 41% from $2.7 billion a year ago, the report shows.
3. Xu Mingxing
Xu Mingxing is the founder of OKCoin, a globally-oriented BitCoin trading platform that uses advanced technologies. Making the list for the first time, Xu Mingxing, 35, of OKEx/OKCoin came in third with a valuation of $1.4 billion
4. Chris Larsen
Chris Larsen is Executive Chairman of Ripple’s board of directors and former CEO and co-founder of Ripple. Chris Larsen, 59, of Ripple comes in as the 4th richest bitcoin billionaire with a valuation of $1.3 billion.
5. Leon Li
Leon Li (Li Lin), 38, of Huobi exchange came in fifth with a valuation of $1.1 billion. In 2013, Li founded Huobi Group, the company behind one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges operating today.
6. Brian Armstrong
Brain Armstrong, the 37-year-old co-founder of major United States cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase and GiveCrypto foundation comes in as the 6th richest bitcoin billionaire with a valuation of $1 billion. Brian Armstrong is the chief executive of Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the U.S which is based in San Francisco.
